How to Customize Luggage Tags

If you travel on trains or airplanes often, you've probably been warned at least once to check your bags carefully when retrieving them because so many bags look the same. With the standard black bag often comes the standard black luggage tag that you have to spend time reading while at the baggage carousel. One way to avoid that hassle is to customize your luggage tag so it's easy to recognize without having to pick up the bag. An easy way to do this is with brightly-colored tape.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the luggage tag from your bag or suitcase.

    • 2

Purchase some fluorescent duct tape or electrical tape from a hardware or grocery store. You can purchase the smallest roll possible, since you will only need a foot or so for your luggage tag. Duct tape and some other tapes now come in many bright colors, including pink, blue, orange, yellow and green. Choose the most unique color you can find.

    • 3

Make sure your luggage tag has the most up-to-date personal information in it. Because you will be wrapping tape around the tag, it may be more difficult to take the information card out, so get it up-to-date now.

    • 4

Wrap the brightly-colored tape around the non-window portions of the luggage tag, making sure that the information in the window is still visible and readable.

    • 5

Re-attach the tag to your luggage.
