How to Hide Luggage ID Tags

Luggage name tags are used to prevent loss of bags and luggage by airlines and other transportation companies when travelers utilize these services. The tags, however, can leave your sensitive information exposed, making it a potential target for identity thieves or burglars. Travelers can use some specific techniques to keep the tag exposed when needed, then protected when not.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill out the name and address information on the name tags using clean and legible handwriting or a computer print-out. Attach the luggage tags to the luggage handles, or the tag fob.

    • 2

Unzip the bag at the fob slightly and tuck the tag into the bag while traveling through the airport or checking the bags at the counter or kiosk.

    • 3

Unzip the bag and leave the tag out when turning over the bag to the airline counter clerk.

    • 4

Tuck the luggage tag into carry-on bags at all times when boarding, unloading or walking with the bags. Attach the luggage tags to the holes in the zippers and tuck the tags in at the end of the zippers, inside the bag.
