Things to Do in Nevada, Missouri

Nevada is a small town in the western part of Missouri. Founded in 1855, the city is home to a variety of restaurants, shops and areas to both visit and explore. Things to do while in and around the Nevada area are plentiful, and many are rooted in the scenic area that surrounds the city.
  1. Nevada Speedway

    • The Nevada Speedway is a dirt racing track located in Nevada that is home to car racing. Classes of vehicles that race on the one-quarter mile track include street stocks, factory mods, late models and open wheeled modified cars. The track holds races every Saturday evening during the on-season which runs from April through September. There are bleachers available for spectators to sit in and some standing room along portions of the track behind fencing are also available. As of September 2010, admission pricing was $10 for general admission, $12 for reserved seating and $25 for pit passes. The pit pass allows for access to the pit area of the track where the cars reside both before and after a race.

    Bushwhacker Museum

    • The Bushwhacker Museum is a 13,000 square-foot facility that pays homage to Nevada and its history. Some of the exhibits featured throughout the museum include artifacts related to the Border War, the city of Nevada and the Osage Indian tribe. One section of the museum is called Military History and POW Camp which displays information on wars ranging from the Civil War through the present time. The Main Street section illustrates life in Nevada during the 1900s and includes vintage artifacts depicting life as a child in the Nevada area during the 1930s.

    August A. Busch Jr Memorial Wetlands at Four Rivers Conservation Area

    • The August A. Busch Jr Memorial Wetlands at Four Rivers Conservation Area is a wetlands area that was developed by and maintained by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Birdwatching is one of the highlights of the area and the site has been designated as an Important Bird Area by the Missouri Audubon agency due to the extensive birds and water fowl that reside in the wetlands. Things to do at the area include boating, fishing, hunting and swimming. As Osage Indian site also is located on the grounds.
