How to Obtain a Passport for Convicted Felons

The U.S. Passport is a document that allows you to travel between countries and identifies you as a U.S. citizen. The process of obtaining your passport can be a lengthy one if you're not prepared properly when you apply. A convicted felon, contrary to popular belief, may apply for a passport in the same way someone without a felony conviction would. The status of convicted felon has no bearing on your ability to obtain a passport.
