How to Look for Water Parks in Nevada

Even though Nevada is mostly desert, there are ways to escape the heat with water parks and lakes. Currently, Nevada has only one water park open in Sparks, which is just outside Reno. However, Las Vegas Wet is scheduled to open in 2012, offering water park visitors another option. Nevada lakes also offer adventure on the water, if a simple escape from the heat or the casinos is needed.

Plan a visit with Wild Island Family Adventure. The only currently open water park in Nevada, Wild Island's reviews on Trip Advisor are a 4/5, with quite positive remarks. Tickets are also fairly inexpensive, ranging from $8.50 for Seniors and $22.50 for adults; the water park season runs from mid-May to early September. Wild Island also offers golf carts and miniature golf for a separate cost, and these features are open year round. Nevada Magazine voted Wild Island the Best Place to Take Kids in northern Nevada in 2009. Located in Sparks, Nevada, Wild Island is just outside Reno.

Look into lakes with boats and other watercraft available for rental. Lake Tahoe, which divides itself between California and Nevada, provides myriad options for those wishing to spend a little time on the water. H2O Sports at Lake Tahoe offers a range of activities, from jet skis to parasailing. If visitors book early, special rates are available when combining different activities. Prices listed on the website "include marina and forest service fee," meaning no surprise charges should appear.

Look into resort hotels. Many resorts offer extensive pool services, with separate pools for families or for couples. The Grand Sierra Resort offers pools, a bowling alley, a thrill ride park, a game arcade, go karts, and miniature golf. The MonteLago Village Resort at Lake Las Vegas offers family deals, which include accommodations and packages for watercraft.
