Indoor Water Parks in Houston

Indoor water parks can be an alternative to standard amusement parks or outdoor water parks when during fall and winter months, or just when the weather is less than ideal. Even in a moderately temperate climate like Houston, Texas, there is at least one indoor water park to be found in the general area, plus two other parks with enclosed water park-type rides.
  1. Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark

    • Though Galveston is about an hour outside Houston, Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is the largest indoor waterpark frequently featured in various tourism sites as an attraction for the Houston area. Built in 2006, Schlitterbahn features 70,000 square feet of indoor/ outdoor convertible area space. The indoor portion, which is open year-round, features four tube slides, three speed slides, three kids' activity areas, a secluded beach, a hot tub and the Torrent Tidal Wave River.

    Splashtown

    • Splashtown is located in Spring, about 30 minutes outside of Houston, making it technically the closest water park in the Houston area. Though most of this park is outdoors, there are indoor and/or enclosed features such as the enclosed family tube ride Space Rapids, which, according to the website, is designed to make riders feel as if they are floating through space.

    Zuma Fun Centers

    • Zuma Fun Center has two locations in Houston, north and south. Though this is technically an indoor arcade with games and rides such as go-karts, miniature golf, this center offers bumper boats in both locations. Bumper boats combine the fun of traditional bumper cars with the water-park-like element of miniature boat vessels.
