Indoor Water Parks Nearest to Houston

Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest city in the United States with a population of about 2.3 million residents. The city enjoys mild to hot weather almost all year. Several attractions are in and around Houston, including a water park called Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark. The park opened in 2006, and has a section called Wasserfest that is a convertible indoor section of the park that is open on weekends and holidays year-round, and daily during the official water park season.
  1. Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark Overview

    • Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark has three areas: Blastenhoff and Surfenburg, both of which are outdoor areas, and Wasserfest, an indoor area. Wasserfest is a 70,000-square-foot section of the park with a convertible roof. It is open year-round, while the other two sections are only open from late April until mid-September. During summer months, Wasserfest has a convertible roof that might be opened during nice weather. From mid-September until the outdoor sections re-open in April, however, the Wasserfest roof is always closed, making it a permanent indoor water park. The park is heated when the roof is closed. Tubes and life jackets are always free.

    Wasserfest Attractions

    • Wasserfest has several attractions and water rides. Faust and Furious are two high-speed tube water slides that begin 60 feet above the ground. Guada-Loopy Tube Chutes are indoor white water rides in the dark, beginning four stories off the ground. Loopy Luge Tube Chutes are fast paced luge-style rides through tube slides, while Rohr! is a fast-paced plunge down a 70-foot drop with speeds more than 30 miles per hour. Torrent Beach is a more relaxing float along a river with a kids play area. Wasserfest Hot Tub is a large hot tub complete with a swim up bar, and Wasserfest Kids' Area is a place where toddlers and young kids can splash around and play.
