How to Search Several Airlines at Once

When you are planning your dream vacation, the last thing you want to do is pay so much to get there you can't have any fun when you arrive. Comparing airlines is a good way to know that you are getting the best deal, but this can be difficult if you don't know where to look. If you navigate correctly, you can also determine when the cheapest day to leave will be, and you may be able to snag some big discounts.

  Go to Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, Kayak or a similar website.

  Type your destination city and your departure city in the appropriate boxes. Enter the dates for when you want to leave and return. Some websites have a box that you can check if your dates are flexible, which will list nearby days with potentially lower fares. Select the number of passengers who will need tickets, and indicate if the flight is one-way, round trip, or has multiple destinations.

  Click the "Search" button and let the website troll through all the possible flights for your chosen criteria. Browse these results to find the best fare and times for your trip.

  Call a travel agency and ask an agent to find the best fare for you. The agent will be able to search a professional database with all available options and determine which will best fit your itinerary.
