Things to Do With a Baby in Seattle

The largest city in the northwest United States, Seattle was originally named after Suquamish Native American Chief Noah "Seattle" Sealth. The birthplace of grunge rock, this metropolitan city is also known for its diverse culture, coffee and environmentally green policies. If you're new to Seattle, or a new parent, it can be overwhelming trying to find ways to get you and your baby out of the house. Luckily, there are a number of baby-oriented activity options within the city.
  1. Moms Club of Seattle

    • Possibly one of the best organizations for moms looking to do things with their babies and children, Moms Club has two chapters in Seattle. Moms Club serves as a community connection between mothers, organizing activities, including play dates, park outings, field trips and other activities that allow both mom and the child to socialize with peers. The club also serves as a general outreach program to moms, particularly stay-at-home moms and their children.

    The Little Gym of Seattle

    • Part of the Little Gym franchise of child gyms, the Seattle location offers interactive parent-child classes, where you join in teaching your baby or toddler, age four months to three years, a variety of valuable skills. A large portion of the classes focus on age-specific, parent-guided, physical exercises that, as the Little Gym website states, "help develop your child's balance, body awareness and coordination." However, a number of lessons focus on teaching your child other important skills, including "sharing and taking turns," "feeling proud of accomplishments," "comfortably separating from parents" and "awareness of spatial and perceptual concepts." Free introductory classes are offered for any of the parent-child classes.
