Flight Restrictions in Canada

Flights restrictions within Canada are intended to make air travel more secure and safe for all travelers. Airlines are continually monitoring air travel procedures and adjusting them in response to safety concerns that occur in Canada and around the world. Restrictions refer to carriage items that are deemed "dangerous" and pose a risk to other passengers. Restrictions also refer to intoxication and smoking on board airplanes.
  1. Carriage and Baggage

    • Flight restrictions in Canada state that travelers are permitted to board planes as long they comply with restrictions on carriage items. Passengers are permitted to bring aerosol containers, gels, and liquids on board, provided that each item is less than 100 ml / 100 grams (3.4 oz.). This items must also be carried together in a clear, closed bag, which is resealable with a capacity of no more than 1 litre. One bag is permitted per traveler and those carrying more will have their excess items taken away. Any conflict over this flight regulation between the passenger and security personnel may result in the traveler not being allowed to board the plane.

    Alcohol Consumption and Smoking

    • Inside airplanes and airports within Canada, there is a strict no-smoking policy. All passengers are expected to refrain from smoking while in both of these locations as they are deemed a threat to the safety of the flight. Any passenger trying to smoke will be removed from the airplane or face a serious fine if the individual is caught mid-flight. Passengers are not permitted to consume alcohol that they have brought on to the plane. The only alcohol that is allowed on the plane is the alcohol provided by flight attendants to the passengers. Any individual(s) that try to board the plane that are believed to be intoxicated or on drugs will be refused entry.

    Weapon Restrictions

    • Canadian restrictions on flights state that both weapons and items that look like weapons will not be allowed as a carry-on item. This includes ammunition, knives, or any item that could be used as a weapon, like a box cutter. All items that resemble a weapon will also be not allowed as carry-on, such as toys. Anyone trying to enter the plane with a weapon or something resembling one will be removed and questioned by airport security. Weapons are permitted to be transported on airplanes, however they must be reported to the airlines prior to travel in order to make arrangements.
