According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), passengers are allowed to bring along their prescription medications in any form or type, as well as the associated supplies. This includes pills, liquids, gels, aerosols, injectables, homeopathic remedies and syringes. All medications will be screened by the x-ray machine, but passengers now can also have their medications visually screened.
It is recommended, though not required by the TSA, that medication bottles be labeled and that the name on the prescription label matches the name on the ticket. It is also recommended that passengers bring along supporting documentation for all medications.
If the medication comes in a liquid, gel or aerosol form in containers of three ounces or less, it can be included with mixed toiletries in the quart- sized sealable bag. However, if the liquid is more than three ounces, it should not be placed in the quarter sized bag, and must be declared either verbally or in writing. Declared liquid medications must be kept separate from all other items submitted for x-ray screening.
