What to Take to Eat When Tent Camping

While camping, remember that the only cooking appliance you may have is an open fire. Take care to bring food that is both nutritious and that can easily be cooked on a campsite. Don't forget your ice cooler to keep everything fresh.
  1. Breakfast

    • Pack some eggs, cheese, and bacon in your cooler along with a half-gallon of milk. Bring along some already chopped veggies like mushrooms, green peppers, potatoes and onion. Put the bacon and veggies in a pot over the fire and cook until done. Mix the eggs and a tiny amount of milk together and then pour over the veggie mixture. When the eggs are finished cooking you'll have a tasty, energizing breakfast for you and your fellow campers.

    Lunch

    • Campsite cooking should not be a headache, so for lunch opt for a tasty sandwich. Pack along some hearty bread, lunch meat, cheese and some veggies along with any condiments like mustard or mayonnaise. If you want to add a hot side to your lunch meal, pack along some frozen french fries, chili and cheese sauce. Put all of it in some aluminum foil and stick on the fire until the fries are thoroughly cooked.

    Dinner

    • Try stirring up a satisfying stew. Combine two cans of your favorite vegetables, can of chunk chicken and a can or package of barbecued pork, two cans of tomato sauce and two cans of chopped tomatoes and simmer over the campfire.

If you want to fry up the fish you caught, mix one can of beer with two eggs. Add two ounces of flour to the mixture, two teaspoons of baking powder and salt and pepper to taste. Cover the fish in corn starch and then batter. Put the fish in a pan with hot oil and fry until the batter becomes puffy.
