Instructions

    • 1

Clean thoroughly an empty 1-gallon paint can, using a scrub brush and hot water to remove all traces of paint.

    • 2

Use a knife to poke three 1-inch holes on one side of the can. Locate each hole about 1 inch apart and 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch from the bottom of the can.

    • 3

Poke three more holes on the other side of the can. Position these holes about 1 inch apart and about 1 inch from the top of the can.

    • 4

Position the stove so that the lower of the holes you punched face the wind. This will allow circulation to keep your fire burning hot.

    • 5

Pack kindling and wood loosely into the bottom half of the can.

    • 6

Pour a little lighter fluid on the wood and kindling, then light it with a match. The wind should act as a bellows through the lower ventilation holes, escaping through the higher holes on the opposite side of the can. Place a pot or pan on top of the can. To bake, put the lid on the can, then place the pot or pan on the lid.
