Situated on the edge of the Minnewaska State Park Preserve, the Mohonk Preserve is a non-profit nature preserve where children can spend their day participating in a number of outdoor activities. During an annual summer camp, kids learn about ecology by investigating the life cycles of local wildlife, exploring the preserve on day hikes and making crafts. Children visiting with families throughout the year can ride their bikes through the 80 miles of biking trails or visit Kids Discovery Corner at the Visitor Center, where they can learn about weather patterns with the interactive computer programs available, handle wildlife such as turtles or wander into the Kid's Forest to explore. As of 2010, admission prices to the preserve begin at $10 per person, and is free for children under 12.
