How to Minimize a Wait for Toy Story Mania at Disney World

Toy Story Mania is the most popular attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. At peak times, the waits can reach 2 hours or more. It can be very frustrating to chew up 2 hours of vacation time, all for a ride that only lasts a few minutes. Due to the popularity of Toy Story Mania, it can be a challenge to minimize your wait time, but you can do it if you're willing to follow a few simple steps.

Instructions

  1. Cutting Down Your Wait

    • 1

Get to the park before it opens. If you are one of the first people in Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can usually ride Toy Story Mania with little or no wait. The front turnstiles usually open a little early, and guests are allowed to gather on the main "street." There will be a brief show, and you can then proceed to the attractions. Head immediately to Toy Story Mania.

    • 2

Get a Fastpass for Toy Story Mania as early as possible. Fastpasses are a free service that allow you to ride an attraction within a designated time period with little or no wait. There is a special Fastpass line you enter at the appropriate time. Fastpasses are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and they often run out before noon for popular rides on the busiest days. If you're in the park at opening, ride Toy Story Mania and then get a Fastpass. If the line is already long, skip it and get the Fastpass.

    • 3

Take advantage of extended hours for people who are staying on-site. If you're staying at a Walt Disney World hotel, you will be able to enter Disney's Hollywood Studios early or stay after the official closing time on designated days. Because only on-site guests will be in the park, the lines are typically shorter.

    • 4

Ride Toy Story Mania during the parade. Disney's Hollywood Studios typically has at least one parade each day. Because many guests will be watching it, the ride lines often thin out at parade time.

    • 5

Visit during the off-season. Certain times of the year, such as the week after Labor Day or the week before Thanksgiving week, typically see sparser attendance. At those times, all waits are minimal, including those for the popular rides. If at all possible, visit Disney World during this "dead" season.
