Travel to Bristol, Connecticut. Lake Compounce is easiest to visit by car, but there is plenty of parking at the park, so you don't have to worry once you get there. If you are traveling from within Connecticut, Lake Compounce is right off Exit 31 on I-84. If you are traveling from out of state, you can find extensive directions on the Lake Compounce website.
Visit during the summer. Lake Compounce is only open seasonally, so plan ahead when choosing a time to visit. The park is open every day during the summer and only on the weekends during the fall months. However, Lake Compounce is an affordable amusement park for families. The price for adults is $33.95, children are $24.95 and seniors are $17.95. Also, if you go to the park after 5 p.m., you pay only $17.95 per person. Cars cost $5 for parking, so make sure you have some cash on hand to pay for parking. Food and carnival games cost money once you get in the park.
Go to special events. Lake Compounce has a lot of special events throughout the summer. It is probably best known for its Halloween event, which occurs throughout the month of October. There is a haunted graveyard and costume events around the park. It also stays open later on Halloween so people can visit the park at night. It has a new fall festival event and summer events scattered through each month.
Make a day of it. Lake Compounce is a combination water park and amusement park. You can rent a locker for the day, where you can keep your bathing suit or extra clothing so you can go to the water park during your visit. This makes it easier for you to visit the park during the hot summer days. There is also a kid ride area with kid-geared rides and shows for your ride-phobic family members or friends. There are two wooden roller coasters and water rides, so there are enough attractions to keep you and your family entertained all day.
