There was no single "Viking invasion" but a multi-century era (787–1100s):

• 787: First recorded raid (Lindisfarne, 793).
• 9th–10th c.: Repeated raids, then settlement (Danelaw established late 9th c.).
• 878: Alfred the Great defeats Guthrum; Treaty of Wedmore.
• 1013–1014: Sweyn Forkbeard and Cnut conquer England.
• 1066: Harald Hardrada's invasion (Stamford Bridge) — last major Viking attempt.
