U-Haul Rental Truck Specifications

Hiring movers can be an expensive endeavor, but if you have the muscle and the manpower, renting a U-Haul and doing it yourself can be a cheaper alternative for transporting objects from one location to another. U-Haul has designed a range of trucks to accommodate different weight and space requirements for their customers. The different trucks each carry a different fee depending on size, location of pickup and drop-off and duration of the rental.
  1. Truck Sizes

    • U-Haul truck sizes include the following truck length in feet: 10, 14, 17, 20, 24, and 26. The easiest way to measure your needs is to estimate how many rooms you will be moving. The 10-foot truck is for quick moves and isolated objects, such as a couch, large television set or mattress. The 14-foot truck will fit one room comfortably, the 17-foot moves two rooms, the 20-foot moves three rooms, the 24-foot moves four rooms and the 26- foot can move five rooms.

    Low Deck and Ramp

    • U-Haul trucks are designed with a low deck to make moves easier. The bottom of the storage space is at waste level for the average person, facilitating easy placement of the objects into the truck as opposed to some other trucks that have a high-loading deck. Additionally, U-Haul employs a ramp to roll items from the floor into the truck.

    Additional Features

    • All trucks additionally come with an above compartment to allow for the storage of fragile items during mid-transport. Lined inside the walls of the storage are rub rails to cushion any moving or falling objects during transport. In case the customer would like to bring a car along, all rentals contain a towing device that attaches to the back of the truck.
