Tips on Disney for Couples

The Walt Disney World Resorts are a popular destination for more than families with children. Over the years, adults have planned kid-free getaways, honeymoons and romantic rendezvous at the parks and resorts. There are plenty of things for couples to do that are fun, exciting and romantic when visiting Mickey Mouse and friends.
  1. Romance

    • Hidden at some of the resorts are quiet spots to go and hide where couples can grab a few romantic moments together. Grab some sandwiches from a restaurant and take a walk along the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon or relax on a hammock at Disney's Polynesian Resort. Head out to the beach of the Polynesian Resort for a late night stroll and watch the fireworks over Magic Kingdom. Plan ahead and have the Disney florist bring by some flowers, champagne and a Disney keepsake for your loved one while you are out and about. You can also have chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne delivered to your room for a romantic night in.

    Relaxation

    • Take time out of your Disney vacation and relax at one of several spas, where you can enjoy a couples massage and other treatments. Spas are located at Disney's Grand Floridian, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts and Disney's Contemporary Resort. After a long day at the theme parks, take a relaxing dip in one of the outdoor Jacuzzis found at most moderate and deluxe resorts.

    Dining

    • Dine at a secluded table in the corner overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon at the California Grill at the Contemporary Resort or at O'Hanas at the Polynesian Resort. Make plans for a later dinner, after families have eaten and headed back to the parks. This will give you a quieter dining experience, and you can watch the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom.

    Recreation

    • Rather than spend most of your time and money at the theme parks, take time to explore and enjoy what each of the resort's recreation teams has to offer. Spend the day on one of the lakes in a Searaycer built for two. Boat rentals are available at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Port Orleans Resort Riverside, Downtown Disney and all resorts on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Take a ride aboard the Grand One in front of the Magic Kingdom or aboard the Breathless II around Crescent Lake. Firework cruises are also available at night to see IllumiNations at Epcot or the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. Other recreational activities include horseback riding or carriage rides at Fort Wilderness Resort, tandem parasailing at the Contemporary Resort and surrey bike rentals at the BoardWalk Resort.

    Accommodations

    • To help the romance bloom on your Walt Disney World vacation, stay at either a moderate resort, a vacation club villa or a deluxe hotel. By doing so, you will enjoy themed décor with a bit of romance, bigger rooms and places to go as a couple and relax. For example, the Polynesian Resort and the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts offer a beach to walk along or sit down and relax. Port Orleans has many walkways, and Animal Kingdom Lodge offers quiet places to sit and watch the animals.
