Why does the Antarctic Circle have 24 hours of darkness on 21st June?

The Antarctic Circle does not experience 24 hours of darkness on June 21. Antarctica is tilted away from the sun at this time of year, and as a result, the sun never sets over the Antarctic Circle. This period is known as the midnight sun.
