Lake Travis is a part of the Highland Lakes, which are a group of six lakes on the Colorado River in central Texas. It is a very popular boating and freshwater scuba diving location for visitors. Located near Austin, this lake is surrounded by rocky cliffs, upscale neighborhoods, golf courses and restaurants. It has five marinas, powerboat rentals, a vineyard, parasailing activities and popular Hippie Hollow, the only clothing-optional beach in the state. There are several lake houses, bungalows, cabins and golf resorts available for weekend trips and vacations.

Cedar Creek Lake is located less than an hour from Dallas and is home to many commuters and weekenders. It is the fourth largest lake in Texas and has two public boat ramps, several private marinas, private golf courses and campgrounds. Visitors typically boat, water ski and jet ski in the large coves, and they also have ample fishing opportunities. The lake has large-mouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass and hybrid striped bass. There are several hotels, motels and lake house rentals available.
