Fill out the Preliminary Evaluation for Immigration (PEI) in order to evaluate your chances of being approved for immigration by the Quebecois government. This form is available on the Immigration-Quebec website.
Fill out and submit an official immigration application. In order to have your application approved, you must prove that you are aware of and can handle the challenges you will face in moving to Quebec. Among these challenges are knowing how to apply for jobs in your field, being able to afford the cost of immigration and having a basic understanding of the immigration process.
As part of your official application, you also will need to apply for permanent residence in Canada. This part of the form will be submitted separately, as it goes to the Canadian government rather than the Quebecois government.
Gather all your documents, brush up on your French and study Quebecois customs and society. You might also want to look into services and programs offered to newcomers, such as French lessons, information sessions and courses about integrating into the job market.
If you are arriving at the Montreal airport, head to the Immigration-Québec office after going through customs. There, they will tell you about how to access various government services, as well as possibly give you a brochure about successful integration. If you are driving into Quebec or entering from any point other than the airport, you must contact the Immigration-Québec office for your region yourself, and set up a meeting with an integration officer.
Take advantage of the information and resources provided to you by your integration officer. Learn about public services, open a bank account, begin your job search and get to know people in your area.
