Obtain a U.S. passport from the U.S. Department of State. Passports take four to six weeks to arrive after the date your application is mailed, so make sure you apply for your passport well in advance of your trip to Israel. Passports can be expedited to arrive two to three weeks after the date of application for a fee.
Purchase your airline ticket to Israel. According to travel experts the weather in Israel is nice year-round, but the prices are less expensive during May and October, which are the off-season months for Israeli travel.
Pack your passport, driver's license and all of the necessary credit/debit cards, traveler's checks and cash you'll need for your trip to Israel. A copy of your most recent bank statement with your bank account numbers blacked out, a valid credit card and/or cash all prove sufficient funds when entering Israel. Provide a hotel confirmation as well. Sufficient funds are determined based on the length of time you plan on staying in the country and where you are staying while visiting.
Fly to Israel. Exit your flight and go through Israeli customs. Answer all questions asked of you, declare everything you are bringing into the country and be prepared to explain your reason for visiting the country, such as pleasure or business. Provide a copy of your return or onward airline ticket to Israeli customs agents.
