How to Travel to Ireland From the UK

The Irish Sea creates a barrier between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. There are two ways to travel from England, Scotland and Wales to Ireland and Northern Ireland: by plane or by ferry. Ferries can carry pedestrian passengers or car passengers. Ryan Air runs flights to and from the UK to Ireland daily, as does Aer Lingus. The ferry system has several carriers that make runs between certain UK and Irish ports.
