Kids Camps in Vancouver, B.C.

Vancouver offers a multitude of activities for people of all ages -- including camps for kids. Camps for kids in Vancouver are as diverse as the people who live in the city, where you'll find ethnic food and different customs and celebrations. Whether your children are interested in science, sports or outdoor recreation, they'll enjoy a camp where they'll meet new friends and learn new things.
  1. Sports Camps

    • Kids can learn baseball skills such as fielding, throwing, base running, hitting and pitching in Vancouver All Stars' summer camp. Those who want learn the basic fundamentals of soccer by playing recreational games can join North Shore Soccer Development Centre's summer camp. Vancouver All Stars' 10-week camp is open to local and international children ages 6 to 12. North Shore Soccer Development Centre offers six camps for kids: the U6-U7 Soccer Camp, U8-U14 Soccer Camp, Soccer Swim Camp, High Performance Team or Individual Training, Striker and Goalkeeper Camp and Speed and Agility Camp. Each of the five-day camps runs from 1 1/2 hours a day up to the whole day, depending on the camp you choose.

    Tech Camps

    • In tech camps in Vancouver, kids can learn everything from game design, digital filmmaking, 3D animation, programming, comic creation and claymation. Some of the places that offer these camps include Digital Media Academy at The University of British Columbia, Byte Camp and iD Tech Camps. Digital Media Academy offers week-long day camps for kids ages 8 to 12, and week-long overnight camps are for kids 9 to 12. Depending on the program, camps in Byte Camp are scheduled five days a week and are either half a day, one day, a full day or summer full-day or multi-day summer camps.

    Art Camps

    • Children interested in different forms of art can attend camps offered by Camp Monarch, Circ Kids and Christianne's LYCEUM of Literature and Art. Children ages 5 to 12 can attend Camp Monarch's day camp. Two two-week sessions are offered in July and August and held in Sentinel Secondary School, where kids learn about music, dance, art and musical theater. Kids ages 5 to 18 can learn skills such as unicycling, juggling, tightwire-walking and acrobalance in Circus West's Circ Kids. Children are divided into age groups in this 10-month, daily training program from September to June. Christianne's LYCEUM of Literature and Art's summer camps introduce children to literature, writing and art. Five-day camps are offered for children ages 3 to 11 and are divided by age group.

    Recreation Camps

    • Camps that involve outdoor recreation are offered by YWCA Vancouver and Windsure. Girls ages 9 to 13 attend Camp Fun Girl, a one-week summer day camp offered by YWCA Vancouver. Girls participate in a variety of outdoor activities, including swimming and team games that are aimed at empowering girls. Windsure's one-week youth windsurfing camps are for children 12 years and older and/or that weigh at least 80 lbs. "Level One" camps teach kids the basics of sailing, and "Level Two" camps teach kids higher level windsurfing skills. Kids can choose windsurfing or skimboarding in the morning, then sailing, kayaking, windsurfing or skimboarding in the afternoon in the full-day combo camp. The program, which takes place at the Jericho Sailing Centre, is certified by the Canadian Yachting Association.
