Located about an hour south of Nashville, Horton Haven is an 150-acre camp that was founded in 1975. Since that time, many new buildings have been added to the camp, including a chapel, dining hall, gym with climbing wall and snack bar. Horton Haven designates specific weeks for different age groups of kids, which means kids will only be with children their own age. Day camp is for children ages 6 to 11. Once kids turn 8, they may attend one of the overnight camps (which extend through high school-age).
Kids can choose from a wide array of activities during their stay, including mountain biking, horseback riding, climbing and archery. There are 15 different activities offered at the camp. Horton Haven's mission statement is "Creating a Camp Environment Where People Come to Know and Follow Jesus Christ," and the teachers and counselors who work at the camp strive to reflect that aim.
