Who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and discovered Bahamas?

Christopher Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492 and discovered the Bahamas. He landed on one of the Bahamian islands, called Guanahani, on October 12, 1492. He named the island San Salvador and claimed it for Spain.
