Every year in late February/early March, participating shops in the city hold a gigantic book sale where readers, collectors and literary treasure hunters can search for rare and unusual books, such as limited editions or out-of-print paperbacks, many at bargain prices. This is a free event, but shoppers and browsers should expect long lines, particularly when the shops first open their doors.
