Disney World's Lake Buena Vista golf course is a tough but fun course to play. It's lovely views and tee boxes put you next to canals and boats with a lighthouse off in the distance. This course was actually rated four out of five stars by "Golf Digest" magazine.
The ChampionsGate Resort features two Greg Norman-designed 18-hole courses, the National and International, that offer gorgeous layouts that blend tradition and modern elements. Be sure to practice your draw shots for the National tract as this course has a lot of dogleg-left holes. The resort is located 10 minutes from Disney World Resorts, making it a great place to play a quick 9 or 18 while the rest of the family meets Mickey Mouse.
The Celebration Golf Club course is a pro caliber course located in the community of Celebration. This 18-hole public course encompasses all of golf's beauties. The No. 5 par-3 sits between a pond and Florida's native wetlands making a serene yet testing hole. The course is kept in near perfect condition year round and boasts intimidating elevated rolling greens. Be wary of the fairway bunkers and abundance as your day can quickly go from dry to wet.
The course at Eagle Creek Golf Club is truly a challenging, fun and imaginative course. Reminiscent of Scottish and English courses, it has plenty of bunkers, five par-5s and five sets of tees. When playing this course you will need to utilize all your shots. With firm and fast fairways there needs to be a long drive competition in there somewhere. It's a par-73 course, which gives an inkling of forgiveness but the distance and bunker-filled fairways more than make up for that.
These courses range in price from $100 to $300. There location in relation to Disney World makes the courses convenient for playing while on vacation or if you are lucky enough to reside in Orlando. Remember to select a tee time, follow the dress code and repair your ball marks when playing. These courses are for more-experienced golfers whose handicap ranges from 10 to about 20. In any case, enjoy the links and hit 'em straight.
