Containing such notable large cities as Los Angeles, Long Beach, Burbank and Pasadena, Los Angeles County is the most populated county in the United States. Featuring popular tourist destinations such as Universal City Walk and the Pasadena Playhouse, this county also contains many public golf courses that feature plenty of sand traps and water hazards for golfers visiting this section of the country.

  1. Roosevelt Municipal Golf Course

    • Directly across the street from the famous Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California, the Roosevelt Municipal Golf Course features nine holes of challenging golf and contains a good deal of sand traps throughout the course. This public course also includes narrow fairways outfitted with plenty of large trees on both sides of the fairway. This is a walking-only course, so golf carts are not allowed. Opened to the public in 1964, the Roosevelt Municipal Golf Course stretches to a length of more than 2,470 yards.

    Brookside Golf Club

    • Designed by noted golf course architect William P. Bell and opened to the public in 1928, the Brookside Golf Club is in Pasadena, California. Containing 36 holes, the Brookside Golf Club features Bermuda grass tees and greens. It is 6,888 yards in total length and is just 200 yards north of the world famous Rose Bowl coliseum. The course has hosted many national golf events in the past, including the Los Angeles Open as well as the National Public Links Championship. The clubhouse contains a full restaurant and bar, while the adjacent John Wells Golf Shop allows visitors to buy a wide variety of golf equipment.

    Rancho Park Golf Course

    • In Los Angeles and opened to the public in 1920, the Rancho Park Golf Course stretches more than 6,580 yards and contains 18 holes. This championship public golf course also features a wide variety of sand traps and water hazards to avoid. The Rancho Park Golf Course includes a large practice facility that features a lighted driving range and nearby practice putting greens. Cart rentals are available from the pro shop, and the clubhouse's snack bar serves cold drinks and assorted snack all day long.
