The Albert Park golf course is an easy, relatively flat 18-hole, par 72 course. It was founded in 1899, and some of the trees on the grounds have stood since then. Recently, the grounds have been extended and more than 1,600 new trees were planted. The course is laid out along the track of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The course is closed during Formula 1 races.

Located only 2 miles from the central business district, the Royal Park golf course is easily accessible by tram. As a matter of fact, the tram and train lines run right through the course, which is located next to the Melbourne Zoo.
The course is 1 and three-quarters mile long, par 66, and has nine holes and six bunkers. It is a relatively easy course. The droughts which occasionally hit Melbourne is not a problem for this course, since it is irrigated with recycled storm drain water.
