The island is quickly becoming known for its challenging pristine courses that are loaded with water and sand traps that make the courses more difficult. St. Joseph's Bay Country Club is an elite18-hole championship golf course located along beautiful St. Joseph's Bay off Country Road. Non-members may also play on this course. Rates vary and change seasonally, but as of 2009 the following were the current rates:
18 holes: (non-member), $43.00 plus tax (includes cart)
9 holes: (non-member), $21.50 plus tax (includes cart)

Wildwood Golf Club, about one hour east of St. George Island, is a newer golf course in Wakulla County. The golf course is open to the public. It is an 18-hole championship golf course with an intricate, challenge-laden course. The course also has four sets of tees to accommodate players at all levels. Wildwood also has practice facilities and a pro shop that carries a variety of new equipment and apparel. Members also have access to the swimming pool, tennis court and fitness center. There is also a restaurant at the club. These are the 2009 rates, but please check with the club as they do vary by season:

Weekend: 18 holes $43.00 9 holes $28.50

St. James Bay Golf Course is an 18-hole course just a half hour drive to St. George Island. It is close to the beach and East of Carrabelle, Florida. An Audubon Signature Sanctuary golf course, St. James Bay boasts a "green" friendly layout. They have brand new GPS carts and guests have access to tennis courts, aerobics classes and dining at the Crooked River Grill Restaurant and Bar. It is open to the public. Putt-N-Fuss Fun Park is an alternative for the whole family. This is an 18-hole miniature golf course. It even lights up for great summer fun in the evening. It also has a 20-foot waterfall so you will probably get splashed. It is just a short drive from the island.
