Try a new perspective. If the landscape doesn't offer a scenic view, try shooting from below or above to create an interesting effect. You may need to get down on the groun, or up on an elevated surface to achieve the desired effect.
Experiment with camera settings. Most digital cameras have various settings that can help you produce pictures with a variety of interesting effects. Effects such as sepia, black and white and selective color can give your pictures a dramatic look in any location.
Strike a pose. If you are taking pictures of people, ask them to strike an interesting pose. The subject of a picture can liven your shot with their pose and facial expression even if your backdrop is boring.
Add lighting. Interesting lighting can add character to the most boring place. Many professional photo shoots rely solely on lighting to create dramatic effects. A lot of equipment used to create interesting lighting effects can be made at home using simple materials. Flashlights, lamps and spotlights can produce the desired result.
Add props. Props can add interest to your pictures and make them pop. Even simple things such as umbrellas, hats, flowers and furniture can accentuate your setting.
Edit your photos. If you can't boost the interest factor of your photos on-site, use a computer program such as Photoshop or iPhoto, or an online program such as Picnik, to make your pictures more interesting after the fact. Applying filters, cropping or changing the color balance can add depth to your pictures and transform them entirely.
