The 180 linked islands of Bermuda, an overseas territory of the United Kingdom located in the Atlantic Ocean approximately 650 miles east of North Carolina, comprise a mere 22.7 square miles. The nine parishes of sub-tropical Bermuda feature vibrant plant life and inviting beaches.

    Climate

    • Bermuda enjoys a moderate climate with temperatures not usually exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit during summer. Hurricanes are not as common in Bermuda as they are on Caribbean islands situated farther south.

    Island Terrain

    • Bermuda's highest point is 259 feet above sea level at Town Hall in Smith's Parish. From there you can see Bermuda's capital, the town of St.George's, which is located on the east side.

    St. George's Parish

    • One of the oldest English colonies in the New World--second only to Jamestown, Virginia--St. George's abounds with historical sites such as Alexandria Battery and St. Catherine's Beach, where the first colonists came ashore in 1609.

    Smith's and Devonshire Parishes

    • Smith's Parish and Devonshire Parish are popular tourism sites for nature lovers who enjoy hiking, bird-watching, snorkeling and diving.

    Hamilton Parish

    • Hamilton Parish's Crystal Caves, as the name implies, presents ideal diving conditions with transparent waters up to 55 feet in depth. Shelly's Bay is ideal for families. The Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo is also located here.
