How to Visit The World's End Pub in Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh, Scotland was once a small city partially enclosed by Flodden Wall. The world outside Flodden Wall may as well have not existed for Edinburgh inhabitants. After the wall was torn down to make room for expansion of the city, a lively pub marked the spot that once represented the end of the world, the aptly named The World’s End pub.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate The World’s End pub at 4 High Street on the Royal Mile of Edinburgh, the main street of Old Town, where High intersects with St. Mary’s Street.

    • 2

From North Bridge or lower down toward the bottom of the High Street Hill, walk up toward Edinburgh Castle. You will pass Blackfriars Street if you are going in the right direction.

    • 3

From George IV Bridge or higher up towards Edinburgh castle on High Street, walk down hill past St. Giles Cathedral on your right. When you pass Cranston St. on your left you will know you are headed in the right direction.

    • 4

Continue from either direction until High St. intersects with St. Mary’s Street. The World’s End is located on the north side of the street. Enter the pub on High Street.

    • 5

Ask to be seated on the left in the dining room if your looking for a bite to eat. If you want to have a drink, head to the right and find a seat at the bar.

    • 6

Look for the specials chalkboard on the wall to the right of the bar for the featured whisky of the week or day. This is always a great bet for a drink at The World’s End.
