    • 2

If you are coming from Holyrood or the North Bridge walk up the hill on High Street, passing the large stone cathedral of Saint Giles on your left. You will also pass a statue of David Hume on your right. From Edinburgh Castle walk down the hill onto High Street about 500 feet until you reach the corner of High Street and George IV Bridge on your right.

From the first direction, continue 20 feet past David Hume until you reach a large intersection which is Bank Street on your right and George IV Bridge on your left. Take a left onto George IV Bridge. From the second direction, take a right onto George IV Bridge.

    • 4

Walk along the bridge, passing over Cowgate Street until you come to 21 George IV Bridge, the entrance to the Elephant House.

    • 5

Enter the Elephant House and go to the counter on the right. Here you can order your coffee, tea, or pastry and go take a seat in the back room, with those spectacular views of the castle.
