Kids' Activities Near Schaumburg, Illinois

Schaumburg, Illinois, is located in the suburbs 45 minutes northwest of Chicago. The area has numerous shopping malls and shopping centers, restaurants and attractions. Families looking for children's activities do not have to look far. Activities are interactive and educational.

  1. Legoland Discovery Center

    • Legoland Discovery Center (legolanddiscoverycenter.com) is located in the Streets of Woodfield, a shopping center in Schaumburg. The Center has rides for children such as a LEGO Factory where visitors are shown how LEGOS are made. LEGO Studios also shows LEGO movies. A building center provides thousands of LEGOS for children to use to build. Walk through Mini Land to see a LEGO-sized version of the city of Chicago. Then continue walking through Jungle Adventure to see LEGO animal creations. Legoland Discovery Center has a LEGO store on the ground floor of the Center and a Cafe on the second floor. At the time of publication. entry fees are $19 for adults, $15 for children and free for children under 2. Tickets can be purchased online for a discount. Legoland Discovery Center offers yearly passes which can be purchased online for $35 a person or at Legoland Discovery Center for $40 a person.

    FireZone

    • The FireZone (firezonefun.reachlocal.com) in Schaumburg is an educational, interactive fire-safety center. The FireZone building is based on a firehouse theme and contains firetrucks, experienced firefighters and many activity stations which allow children to think, interact and explore. The FireZone offers programs for birthday parties, playgroups, groups, and drop-in visitors. All programs are designed to provide an educational experience and all the necessities for the program. Parents and group coordinators only need to worry about bringing the children and cameras.

    Medieval Times

    • Medieval Times (medievaltimes.com) in Schaumburg is a dinner banquet attraction located in a castle-like atmosphere. Diners are seated at tables within sections inside the castle overlooking a jousting field. Diners are encouraged to cheer for the Knight representing their section during a jousting tournament. The cast consists of a court. A King and Princess oversee the entire event and four-course meal. The Royal Falconer performs with his birds of prey. The Master of the Horse presents stallions to the King. The Lord Chancellor introduces the cast to the diners. The Herald of Leon presents stallions to the King from the King of Leon. Medieval times uses authentic reproductions of weapons and costumes for the event. The fees for the dining experience are $59.95 for adults and $35.95 for kids 12 and under, plus tax. Gratuities are not included in the ticket price.

    Woodfield Mall

    • The Woodfield Mall (shopwoodfield.com) in Schaumburg is a shopping mall with many clothing, electronic and book stores. The Mall also has a club for kids called Club Kidfield. Joining the club requires completing an application (see Resources), which is submitted to Guest Services. Club Kidfield provides children under 12 with a newsletter containing jokes, coupons and event listings for the mall. Children receive a birthday bay filled with treats on their birthday. Parents get the inside scoop on mall activities for children and discounts on mall stores. Woodfield Mall provides seasonal children's entertainment in the form of the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus.
