The starting point is Garibaldi, Oregon, about an hour and a half drive away from Portland. Take State Highway 6 to Tillamook and head north on Highway 101 until you reach Garibaldi 23 miles to the North.
Decide on your choice of train trips on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. Round-trip travel time is one and a half hours from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach. A round-trip excursion to Wheeler takes three and a half hours. Also available are sunset dinner tours and special event tours. The tours glide through quaint coastal towns while visitors enjoy miles of pristine beaches.
The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad is a non-profit museum group dedicated to keeping the historic railroad heritage available to the public. Tickets may be purchased just prior to boarding, but reservations are recommended.
