Massanutten is a resort community located in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Massanutten is most notable for its mountain and ski resort. In 1716, people from German, English, and Scotch-Irish decent settled in and around the Shenandoah Valley. Massanutten is home to many Civil War battles as well as one of the headquarters for Stonewall Jackson. In 1971, resorts around the mountain emerged and the area became a popular vacation destination. Massanutten not only offers visitors skiing recreation, but canoeing, tubing and fishing also are available in the lakes at the base of the mountain and in the Shenandoah Valley.
The Crimora cabin located in the Shenandoah Valley offers visitors a panoramic view of the valley. The cabin has four bedrooms, three baths and sleeps 10 people. Amenities include a lake, Internet access, gourmet kitchen, satellite or cable, DVD player and air-conditioning. Visitors can fish, canoe and kayak in the nearby lake. As of August 2010, rates are $400 to $550 per night and $2,800 per week.

Recreation
Massanutten River Adventures provides visitors with kayak, canoe, rafting and tubing excursions. Guests are picked up at the Massanutten Resort and taken to the lake. At the end of the day, guests are taken back to the Resort. As of August 2010, rates are $27 per person for a 7 mile canoe trip, $39 per person for a 7 mile kayak trip, $24 per person for a tubing trip and $32 per person for a raft trip.

The resort has many lakes that are stocked ten times a year with rainbow trout. As of August 2010, rates are $16 for a non-resident five day pass, $3 for a one day fishing permit and $10 for a five day fishing permit. Visitors can rent fishing gear for $3 for two hours, $5 for four hours and $6 for six hours.
