The Block, located in the Oak Lawn region of Dallas, is home to five different gay clubs. All of the clubs are within walking distance of each other, as well as various restaurants and shops. While the Block has a large concentration of gay clubs, other gay bars can be found throughout the city of Dallas, each catering to different types of clientele.
Located in the Block, JR's offers a full menu as well as a dance floor. Appetizers are all $3.75 and include friend mushrooms and jalapeno poppers. Other options include sandwiches and salads. Every night has a drink special, such as $2 well drinks and domestic bottles on Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and $4 well drinks and domestic bottles from 8 p.m. until closing on Fridays. The club inspired other locations that opened in Washington D.C., Denver, Colo., and Houston, Texas.

Known as the "sister site" of JR's, Sue Ellen's is a primarily lesbian club open daily to those 21 or older. On Fridays, the age is lowered to 18 or older. The club features two floors, a main dance floor and two different lounges; the Lipstick Lounge accommodates those seeking a place for conversation, while the Vixen Lounge regularly showcases live bands.

Known as S4 for short, the club is open Wednesdays through Sundays until 4 a.m, though alcohol service ends at 2 a.m. The club has 15 bars, which makes for a short wait for drinks, and the large dance floor features a constantly moving light show. Drink specials include $2 house margaritas on Fridays and $4 Long Island ice teas on Saturdays. The club is also well-known for its large patio.

Located on the Block, The Mining Company is open from Thursdays to Sundays. The bar draws a predominantly male crowd and features a dance floor, a patio and pool tables. After-hours run from Friday through Sunday, though alcohol service ends at 2 a.m. per state law. TMC is one of the oldest gay clubs in Dallas, opening in 1978.

Located in downtown Dallas, the Tin Room is popular for its go-go dancers. The club is open to those 18 or older, and is open seven days a week. Live DJs and music videos provide the entertainment, in addition to the live dancers. Saturdays are known as Intimate Alibi, and feature various go-go dancers. The club is standing-room only on Saturdays, due to the size of the crowd.

The leather club features various specials throughout the week, including 50 cent draft beers on Mondays and underwear night on Thursdays, complete with a clothing check-in. Patrons are encouraged to wear leather, rubber or denim, and numerous leather contests take place. The club is open seven days a week and has extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
