Labor Day weekend, which occurs annually in early September, celebrates the hard work and accomplishment of workers across the country. The holiday is often commemorated with community barbecues, parties and concerts. If you're a resident of southeastern Nebraska, consider attending the following local events, which provide free or low-cost entertainment this Labor Day.
One of the area's most popular Labor Day attractions is the Spirit of Brownville, a paddleboat cruise that travels down the Missouri River. The Spirit of Brownville offers several daytime Labor Day cruises, as well a twilight cruise at dusk. Customers pass under the Brownville Bridge, a restored historical landmark, and experience breathtaking views of the Nebraska countryside. In addition, a dinner cruise, featuring a selection of entrees and wine, is also available. Entertainment cruises are also offered, and generally include live music entertainment. Private charter cruises are also available by telephone reservation.
