Take your U.S. Airways travel voucher to a U.S. Airways airport ticket counter. Some vouchers state they may also be presented to travel agencies or redeemed over the phone with an airline reservations sales agent. No U.S. Airways vouchers can be redeemed online (as of the publication of this article), according to Valerie Wunder, US Airways' associate manager of media relations.
Advise the agent that you will be using a travel voucher. If the voucher was route-based, it will indicate where you can travel, and whether it can be redeemed for a stand-by or confirmed ticket; one-way or round trip passage; and first, business or coach class accommodations. If the voucher was issued for a designated dollar amount, it is good for travel on all U.S. Airways carriers and code-share partners.
Be prepared to change your dates. Agents may not be able to find seats that can exchanged for some vouchers on the dates you prefer. For example, under the terms and conditions for the Take Flight Certificate often awarded passengers during oversold flights, the airline states "travel is subject to availability. Voucher seats are limited and may not be available on every flight."
Present payment, travel voucher and photo ID, if applicable. If your voucher has a dollar amount and the ticket you are buying is greater than the value of the voucher, you have to pay the difference. If your ticket costs less than your travel voucher, you lose the difference; there is no residual value.
