The Boeing 747-400 series of nine planes remain in Air France´s fleet. They are in use for long haul routes from the Americas to Europe.
For flights to Europe, British Airlines uses 58 Boeing 747-400 series jets. BA´s aging fleet of 747s will dwindle as announced in 2008. Its 747 planes will be replaced with 24 state-of-the-art Boeing Dreamliner 787.

Lufthansa of Germany operates 30 Boeing 747-400s for its long-haul European and North American routes. Twenty of its Boeing 747-400 fleet will be replaced with the contemporary Boeing 747-8.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines purchased Pullmantur S.A. and affiliates, including Pullmantur Air in 2006. The airline is used to transport passengers to RCCL and Pullmantur ships in Europe and the Caribbean. Pulmantur Air has four Boeing 747-400 in active service.
Virgin Atlantic uses the Boeing 747-400 series aircraft in its large fleet of jets. The Boeing 747-400 series will be replaced. Virgin Atlantic has purchased 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, with delivery scheduled to begin in 2011.
