American Airlines AAdvantage Program is the original travel awards program that also boasts the largest membership in the world. Members earn miles or "points" each time they fly with American Airlines, or stay at a hotel and rent a car with an AA partner company. Points are redeemed for travel awards around the world. Using your points can be as easy as providing your AAdvantage number when booking a reservation.
View your account status on AA.com or subscribe to receive the AAdvantage eSummary to stay updated on how many points you have accrued.
Log in to the American Airlines website with your AAdvantage number and password to complete your booking. Online award reservations are free, but AAdvantage award reservations ticketed by AA reservations offices, Travel Centers or airport agents carry an extra charge per ticket.
Select "Redeem Miles" from the homepage under the "Make Reservations" tab. Alternatively you may select "Reservations," then "Book Flight" and click on the "Award" tab.
Choose the MileSAAver or AAnytime award option to book flights for one-way, round-trip or multi-city itineraries. AAnytime awards offer the most flexibility, while MileSAAver awards are more economical, but with special limitations.
Find available flights for your award by choosing your dates, destination and class.
Locate your "Pending Balance" in the upper left-hand corner of your account page to see what your mileage balance would be once the award was deducted.
Confirm your booking. Find your reservation number and a recap of all the information you have entered on the Finish page. Look for a confirmation email from American Airlines about your Award reservation.
