Massachusetts has 38 public-use airports, according to the Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. The largest, Logan International, offers the widest choice of transportation options to travelers trying to get to or from the airport.
  1. Types

    • Airports in Massachusetts range in size from small, rural airports serving private planes, with no public transportation on the ground, to Logan International Airport in Boston. The Massachusetts Port Authority runs Logan, Hanscom Field in Bedford and Worcester Regional Airport in Worcester.

    Considerations

    • Travelers can get to and from Logan by road or by water. Buses, vans, limousine and taxi services drive passengers to and from the airport, or you can drive yourself. Public transportation options include subway and bus service from other sections of the city to the airport. A water shuttle and water taxis offer service to the Logan dock from downtown Boston, Quincy and Hull. At Logan, a shuttle service runs between terminals, parking areas and the dock.
