Houston Hobby Airport Transportation Options

Houston's second largest airport, William P. Hobby Airport, has welcomed passenger air services to the city since 1927. A variety of ground transportation options are available for arriving passengers and those departing the city. Shuttle buses, public transit buses, taxis and rental cars are available at the airport for efficient transfers to and from points within Houston and beyond the city limits.
  1. Bus

    • The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris Country, Houston, Texas (METRO), provides bus service from Curb Zone 13 at Hobby Airport. Buses stop outside the baggage claim area in the lower level of the terminal building. As of April 2011, routes 50 and 88 connect Hobby Airport with downtown and other points in Houston. The cross-town route 73 also serves the airport from the city's Uptown district and includes stops at the Texas Medical Center.

    Hotel Shuttles

    • Several hotels and motels in and around Houston provide courtesy van service to and from Hobby Airport. Arriving passengers can use courtesy telephones in the baggage claim area to request a shuttle for most hotels and motels. For example, airport shuttles are provided to and from the SpringHill Suites Houston Hobby Airport, Hilton Houston Hobby Airport, and the La Quinta Inn and Suites Houston Hobby. Hotel and motel courtesy vans depart from Curb Zone 8A.

    Shared-Ride Shuttles

    • Scheduled shuttle services provide links to destinations in and around the city. For example, Galveston Limousine Service offers daily airport shuttles to and from Galveston, Texas City, LaMarque, Hitchcock, Santa Fe, Dickinson and League City. SuperShuttle offers shared-ride services to and from a passenger's residence or workplace to and from Hobby, and passengers can purchase tickets at the company's ticket counter in the baggage claim area. Scheduled ground transportation vehicles depart from the airport at Curb Zone 12B.

    Taxis

    • Taxis are available outside the baggage claim area in the lower level of the terminal building at Curb Zone 3. Passengers traveling to all destinations within Houston's city limits must pay a flat zone rate or meter rate, whichever is less, when traveling to and from Hobby Airport. Seniors traveling by taxi receive a 10 percent discount. A late-night surcharge of $1 per trip applies for travel between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

    Rental Cars

    • Several major rental car companies operate at Hobby Airport. Car rental booths are located in the baggage claim area in the terminal building. Rental companies provide free shuttle buses and vans between the terminal and car rental lots. These shuttles operate from Curb Zones 2, 4 and 5 outside the baggage claim area. As of April 2011, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty provide car rental services at Hobby.
