How to Install a Convection Oven in an RV

An RV usually comes equipped with kitchen appliances that satisfy salivary demands. In fact, an RV convection oven rivals most kitchen appliances because of its ability to produce moist, delicious meals if used correctly. Convection ovens allow the air to circulate around the food before serving, although certain installment arrangements prefer the filtration of the exhaust outside rather than recirculating. Installing a convection oven takes time and more than one person to complete the project.

Instructions

    • 1

Perform a grounded continuity check on the power outlet to determine whether the receptacle is sufficiently grounded. Ensure the supply circuit adheres to the National Electric Code of 15 to 20 amps. Hire a licensed electrician to ensure the receptacle meets the electrical requirements if it is not properly grounded; the risk of fatal shock may become a result of sheer negligence.

    • 2

Remove the house fuse for personal safety before beginning the installation process. Assume the project needs two or more individuals for successful completion. Inspect the convection oven package and note any damages occurred during shipment. Verify each part listed, including the manual and instructional video.

    • 3

Cautiously choose a cabinet coupled with a wall for an appropriate location. Note the space between the cabinets must range between 30-inches wide and free from obstructions. Do not overshoot the 30-inch mark; additional space may require a Filler Panel Kit to seal off the gaps between the oven and cabinets. Do not exceed 36 inches in diameter. Determine whether the exhaust vents outside or recirculates back into the RV.

    • 4

Wear the appropriate attire before beginning the installation process, such as goggles, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and ear muffs. Carefully remove the contents within the box, leaving the Styrofoam attached to the convection oven. Using a 1-inch to 2-inch Phillips driver, unscrew the attached mounting plate on the back of the convection oven. Store the mounting plate off to the side. Remove and discard all Styrofoam, wrap-around plastic and tape.

    • 5

Appropriately locate the mounting space by using a stud finder or hammer. Probe the wall with a nail to find a hollow sounding area within the wall, which should direct within 16-inches to 24-inches of adjacent studs.

    • 6

Carefully remove the decorative trim on the convection oven to prevent interference with installation. Use a level to measure the cabinet bottom. Carefully use a tape measure, acquire the inside depth of the overhang in front of the convection oven. Draw a horizontal line across the back wall as a guide for leveling the front overhang with the bottom of the cabinet.

    • 7

Draw a vertical line at the 15-inch mark of the 30-inch wide space. Properly align the mounting plate notches with the vertical line on the wall. Hold the mounting plate with one hand and mark the wall according to the alphabetized diagram of the four holes. Drill holes according to the alphabetized markings made. Use toggle bolts through a 5/8-inch hole for stubborn holes that do not line up with the stud.

    • 8

Drill toggle bolts through the remaining holes to attach the mounting plate. Drill one wood screw to secure the mounting plate to the stud of the wall. Attach toggle wings 3/4-inch onto the secured toggle bolts. Secure the toggle wings into the wall to mount the plate. Tighten the bolts to flush the mounting plate against the drywall.

    • 9

Drill support screws through the top of the cabinet, a large enough hole for the power cord to fit through, and a small cutout for the exhaust adapter.

    • 10

Sit the convection oven in an upright position with surface of the unit facing upwards. Slightly insert the tabs of the into the rear of the exhaust adapter. Use filler blocks to secure the open spaces between the convection oven and the cabinet. Using a Phillips driver and two metal bronze screws, attach the exhaust adapter to the blower plate. Assure the damper pivots before installing the convection oven.

    • 11

Lift the convection oven forward onto the mounting tabs. Carefully rotate the front end of the convection oven against the cabinet bottom. Insert a screw to align the top center of the cabinet hole. Thread the screw a full two times for temporary positioning. Keep the power cord away while installing the convection oven because pinching it might cause unnecessary damages.

    • 12

Carefully maneuver the convection oven into the top cabinet. Insert two aligning screws through the outer cabinet holes and tighten them down, alongside the center screw. Snap the grease filters into place.

    • 13

Completely open the top cabinet and position the exhaust adapter for RV duct work attachment. Lengthen the RV duct work and connect it to the exhaust adapter. Properly seal the exhaust adapter's seams with duct tape.
