Remove the existing radio from the mounting bracket. In the case of an IC-A200, insert an Allen wrench into the hole in the front panel. The hole is just to the left of the large tuning knob, and the right of the volume control knob. Rotate the wrench counterclockwise until the front panel moves. Pull the receiver out and discard.
Visually inspect the metal catch on the top of the replacement radio. It should be lying to the left. Insert the A200 into the rack and push it so that it’s flush with the mount. Insert the Allen wrench and turn clockwise until it stops. Don’t over-tighten.
Turn on the radio and test any remote switches and jacks that may be installed on your aircraft. Connect the headphone to the aircraft’s headphone jack. Try the yoke-mounted communication/intercom switch if there is one. The “Communication” position should turn the radio to the air band. The “Intercom” position should allow communication with pilot and co-pilot. If there’s a yoke mounted channel switch, try it to select a memory channel. There may also be a yoke-mounted frequency exchange switch that remotely exchanges the “Use” window frequency for the “Stby” frequency and back.
