Order a vinyl repair kit or patch kit from an RV parts supplier or from the manufacturer of your awning. If you have a large hole in the awning, you may need a patch to cover the hole; if your awning is simply torn, you will just need repair tape. Also purchase a vinyl cleaning solution from an RV supply store.
Open your slide out to unroll the awning.
Clean your awning with the vinyl cleaning solution to remove all dirt and mildew. Towel or air dry the area.
Pull the torn area together and place a piece of repair tape over it, going several inches over on each side, while taking care to keep the area flat. If you have a hole, place your repair patch over the hole, again taking care to keep the area flat. Smooth out any wrinkles in the tape or patch, if possible. Keep in mind that the repair tape and patches are very sticky, so you may not be able to move them once they're placed in position.
Repeat the application process on the underside of the awning, if you can easily reach it. Since many tears happen on the edge of the awning, you may be able to easily reach the underside and apply the tape or patch. Just be sure the underside is dry before applying.
