How to Bolt Furniture to a Camper

Campers can provide a whole family with a wonderful and comfortable place to retreat into nature. Campers have evolved over the years to the extent that modern recreational vehicles come factory equipped with many of the creature comforts found at home. Though campers come in various shapes and sizes, the fixtures are installed much the same way. Because campers are mobile, the furniture onboard can rock, slide or tip over during transport. Therefore, you must bolt down camper furniture like tables and chairs.

Instructions

  1. Remove the Old Camper Furniture

    • 1

Locate the retaining bolts holding the chair or table to the floor. Determine whether the chair or table is bolted directly to the camper floor or is on a removable post.

    • 2

Pull the table or chair out of the retaining bracket by hand and set it aside, if applicable. If the chair or table is directly bolted to the floor, go to the next step.

    • 3

Attach an appropriate-sized socket to a wrench and loosen the retaining bolts holding the table or chair in place. Pull the bolts out and lift the table or chair off the camper floor.

    Bolt Down New Camper Furniture

    • 4

Set the new table or chair over the area it will be installed.

    • 5

Align the holes in the bracket at the bottom of the table or chair with the holes in the camper floor.

    • 6

Insert the retaining bolts into the holes in the camper floor where the old furniture was positioned.

    • 7

Tighten the retaining bolts down with a socket and wrench, securing the new table or chair to the camper floor.
